Chris Hunt is a career journalist who started as the only reporter for a small, weekly newspaper in the mountains of Colorado. Over the years, his career has spanned the world, where he’s been recognized by numerous professional organizations with awards and accolades for his writing. Today, he writes almost exclusively about fly fishing, and, while he specializes in fly fishing for trout, he travels the globe in search of everything from carp to bonefish and everything in between. He is a dependable and thoughtful authority on fly fishing destinations, technique, tips and the conservation of our waters that make fishing possible for all us. He goes to great pains to explain, in everyday language, how fly fishing fits into the larger angling world, and he implores all anglers to be more than just fishermen, but to be stewards of our planets water resources. His latest book, in partnership with fishing buddy Kirk Deeter, is The Little Black Book of Fly Fishing. He also wrote the definitive guide to fly fishing in Yellowstone National Park. When he’s not fishing, or writing about fishing, Chris is helping man the helm at Hatch Adventure Travel, where he helps send fellow anglers to far-flung destinations all over the world.
Chris received his BA in English, with minors in Journalism and History at Western Colorado University in 1992. He initially put that education to use writing for newspapers, but, over the years, he has transitioned his writing to focus on fly fishing, travel and conservation.
